Story behind the Shot - Undeterred by recent rains, I made the decision to make the 45min hike to Middleham Falls barefoot, as the shoes I had were not adequate and I just really missed walking through the woods barefoot. Our guide acknowledged my decision to take on the somewhat strenuous trail barefoot by saying, "I understand, the shoes cost money, the feet are free." The hike was quite tiring with no shoes but I managed to make it all the way back to the start location with no issues. On the way back, we stopped at this creek, so as to rinse off my “boots.” As I looked around and took in my surroundings, the scene really struck me so I instantly set up the tripod. On this long exposure, light illuminated only the foreground tree, and then 10 seconds into the long exposure, the entire area fell under shade, making for an ideal exposure over the entire scene.
